Life In A Holler

Copy Cat Chick Fil A Tenders

Ever since moving to the holler and not having access to a Chick Fil A, I’ve been wanting their chicken a lot! However, we recently had an express Chick Fil A open but it’s just not the same.

So, what do I do? I make Chick Fil A copycat chicken tenders.  After all, why waste the pickle juice?

I searched around for some recipes and decided on this:

I started by marinating a pound of chicken tenders in pickle juice for 8 hours.  You could taste the pickles and I loved it! Some recipes called for 20 minutes of marinating time so depending on your love-hate relationship with pickles I would adjust the marinating time to fit your taste buds.

Later that day I continued with mixing 2 large eggs with a cup of milk and in a separate bowl mix 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon of paprika,  1 tablespoon of pepper and 1/2 tablespoon of garlic salt. You can do just salt if you don’t like garlic.

Drain the chicken and pat dry with a paper towel.

Next, you want to heat Crisco in your pan (just enough to halfway cover the chicken). While that’s getting hot, begin coating the chicken in the milk mixture and then in the flour mixture. Repeat until all of your pieces are coated and ready for the frying pan.

Fry until golden brown or in my case a smokey kitchen. Oopsie daisy!

I thought this recipe was extremely close to tasting like Chick Fil A and I will probably fry my chicken like this from now on! Pretty soon I am going to have my own Chick Fil A stand in this holler.

Enjoy!
