Pondering
Hopelessness is an emotion that suffocates the life out of you once you give yourself over to it. It’s enough to derail your life if you can’t find a way to break free from the mentality that easily traps you. Life often does not go the way you plan and there are many disappointments that we experience. If you allow yourself to become blinded by the things that didn’t go the way you thought they should, you will become stuck on the things that did not work out. This will prevent you from being able to move forward with the plan that God has created for your life. Once you realize that God’s plan is far better than life’s disappointments that you have experienced, you will start to find your hope again and the passions he created you to have.
Romans 15: 13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Luke 1: 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.
Psalm 34: 17 –20 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
Praying
Heavenly Father, I come to you seeking your will for my life. I have allowed the disappointments in life to take over and I have blinded by the things that haven’t gone my way. Give me strength and courage as I start to look forward to what you are planning for me, discover my passions, and renew my hope in this life. I give you praise that your word is true and you always deliver me from afflictions.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
Practicing
- Start each day with Jesus, reading the Bible, and praying. It helps to stay connected to Him during our trials and tribulations. He is there and will make Himself known to you if you ask.
- Can you remember a time when things didn’t go your way? Looking back can you see that His plan was better? Perhaps even protected from something? Even if you don’t, go ahead and THANK HIM for what he did do for you.
- When these emotions start to creep in on you, remember that those emotions do not come from God. Ask Him to help you push them out of your mind. This is a practice that may take several times.
Xoxo,
Hannah B.

This is great teaching, Hannah: “If you allow yourself to become blinded by the things that didn’t go the way you thought they should, you will become stuck on the things that did not work out. This will prevent you from being able to move forward with the plan that God has created for your life.” Great wisdom!
