Faith Over Fear: Season Two // Day One

Pondering

Just like a farmer prepares the soil for planting, you must do the same for your heart. If preparations are not made, you cannot produce crops. Your heart must be plowed just like the soil – you can not grow in a hardened heart just as crops cannot grow in hard, unprepared soil.

God tells us that if we only acknowledge our guilt, He will no longer frown on us. Afterall, He is a merciful God. You must no longer follow the sinful desires of your heart and you must circumcise them before they take root in your heart and cause hardening. Choose to no longer follow the stubbornness of your evil heart. God is ready to start plowing your heart, we just have to come to Him with a willingness to allow Him to start the process. Will you admit your guilt to God and acknowledge that He alone is God? He will never turn you away, He will always choose you, and He just wants you to choose Him. You are called to soften your heart and return to Him.

Jeremiah 4:3-4 – “Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the Lordcircumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem,
or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done –  burn with no one to quench it.”

Jeremiah 5:25 – Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.

Jeremiah: 4:22 – “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.”

Proverbs 4:23 – Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life.

Praying

Heavenly Father,  Forgive me for my backsliding and turning away from You. Reveal to me the areas in my life that need to be plowed and I ask that You begin the work inside my heart that only You can do. Even though the process may be uncomfortable, I am willing to allow the areas that need to be circumcised because I want Your goodness surrounding every aspect of my life. Thank you for the convictions you have placed upon my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen!

Practicing

What is the condition of your heart?

What needs to be plowed from your heart?

How can you take the steps to allow this process to start?

Xoxo,

Hannah B.
